Panchen Lama’s Birthday
April 25, 2010
TAB will organize a candle vigil at Harvard Square on the occassion of Panchen Rinpoche's Birthday.
On May 14, 1995 The Dalai Lama, recognized Gendhun Choekyi Nyima as the 11th Panchen Lama of Tibet. This extremely important decision by His Holiness culminated a six year, difficult and thorough process of searching for the incarnation of The 10th Panchen LamaOn May 17, 1995.
Gendhun Choekyi Nyima, His family, and the Abbott, Chadrel Rinpoche (Cha Tsa Chagbazeling) and His Secretary, who both led the search party for this incarnate were taken by The People's Republic of China (PRC) to Beijing. Thus, these persons are now political prisoners of The PRC Government. As of today, all of these persons are still missing and there has been no indication that they are alive. To date, no one has seen The Panchen Lama. It is very critical for the survival of Tibet that the real Panchen Lama, Gendhun Choekyi Nyima, be released as well as others associated with His selection.
Please join us to show your support for the release of the youngest political prisoner of the world. Gendun Choekyi Nyima(Panchen Lama).

Tibet.” The Tibetan cabinet’s secretariat has appealed to all the concerned departments and offices of the administration "not to organize any lavish and pompous celebrations such as hosting feasts, dance parties and lighting firecrackers."

March 10: 50th Anniversay of Tibetan National Uprising Day
DATE: March 10, 2009
TIME/PLACE: 9am - 10am (City Hall); 2pm - 6pm (State House)
Starting at 9:00 a.m. in front of City Hall, Tibetan Americans and supporters will raise the Tibetan National Flag to mark Tibet Day declared by the Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick in Boston.
On 10 March 1959, the Tibetan people rose up against China's occupation of Tibet, and to protect their temporal and spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, whom they believed was going to be abducted. In China's brutal crackdown, thousands of Tibetans died and tens of thousands fled into exile, including the Dalai Lama. Tibet groups globally will be marking the 50th anniversary of this important event.
Afternoon commemoration will take place in front of the State House at 2:00 p.m. His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 10 March statement will be read along with the declaration of "Tibet Day" in Boston.
The group will stage a peace march around Boston Common at 3.30pm to commemorate 50 years of Tibetan resistance and to appose the continuing crack down by the Chinese government in Tibet. The march will be followed by a candle light vigil at Brewer Fountain and the screening of the award-winning documentary "Leaving Fear Behind" whose makers are still in prison in Tibet. Two ex-political prisoners from Tibet, Tsering and Yeshi Togden will share their experiences under Chinese occupation and the current situation in Tibet. Click here for the press release.
