Boston Tibet Vigil Every Wednesday 7:00PM - 8:00PM
Join Boston Tibet Vigil every Wednesday at Harvard Square pit, between 7:00pm - 8:00pm in-solidarity with Tibetans inside Tibet and over 157 Tibetans who set themselves on fire since 2009, demanding freedom in Tibet and the return of His Holiness The Dalai Lama from exile. The Vigil began in March 2008 in response to a significant Tibetan uprising, in which those living in Tibet broke out in riots protesting Chinese occupation of their homeland. Demonstrations began in Lhasa, the Tibetan capital, then spread throughout the country and the world. Fueled by the renewed urgency and spirit of the Tibetans back home, a group of young Tibetan activists in Boston decided to stand in solidarity with their compatriots. |

Join Boston Lhakar Gorshey every Wednesday at Sylvester Baxter Riverfront Park, at Assembly Row between 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
Lhakar is a Tibetan word meaning White Wednesday. It is a day celebrated as His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Soul-Day. It started as a peaceful non-cooperation and civil disobedience movement in Tibet in the aftermath of 2008 uprising. Since then, Tibetans around the world led by Tibetans inside Tibet have been celebrating Lhakar by speaking Tibetan language, wearing traditional Tibetan attires and eating traditional Tibetan food. It is a day of being Tibetan, of celebrating the Tibetan identity. |
